How To Make Eggless Chocolate Cake In Pressure Cooker?

Follow this simple step by step method to prepare Eggless chocolate cake in pressure cooker.

1. Take a big bowl and mix plain flour, baking powder, cooking soda, cocoa powder and salt in above mentioned quantities.
2. Now take sugar in the blender jar of mixer and powder it nicely. Make sure there are no granules. Let it become fine sugar powder.
3. Now in the same jar add fresh cream, curd and vanilla essence. Blend at low speed and mix well.
4. Pour down this paste into another bowl. Now add the dry mixture of flour, cocoa powder etc that we made earlier. Use a whisk to mix them well.
5. While mixing, add milk little by little to get the right consistency.
6. Cake batter has to be fairly creamy but not flowing. Get the consistency right by moving the whisk in only one direction.
7. Then take a medium size cake pan that is easily available in the market. Some people already have steel vessel with flat base. This is suitable for baking cake.
8. Cover the base and edges of the vessel with butter paper. This is done so that the batter will not stick to the bottom and will come out easily when cooked.
9. Once it is covered, pour the batter carefully in it.
10. Gently tap the vessel to let the batter spread evenly to all sides.
11. Then cover the top of the vessel, with another butter paper so as to avoid the vapor reaching the batter directly. This is optional.
12. Pre heat the pressure cooker for about five minutes.
13. Now place an empty pot or vessel inside the pressure cooker. The cake pan has to be placed on this vessel. Cake pan should not come in direct contact with the bottom of the cooker.
14. Now close the lid of the cooker without whistle.
15. Bake the cake on medium heat first for about 5 minutes.
16. Lower down the heat to low and cook for about 30- 35 minutes.
17. After 30 minutes, leave the cake in cooker for about 5 minutes.
18. Now open the lid and insert a toothpick in the cake. If it comes out clean, it means that the cake is properly cooked. If cake batter sticks to the toothpick, then bake the cake again for another 10 minutes.
19. Then take out the cake pan and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.
20. Since there is butter paper on the bottom, the cake will come out easily. Just flip the pan over a flat plate and tap on it. Use a knife if required.

How To Present The Cake?

21. Cut the cake into clean slices (This recipe will make around ten medium pieces).
22. There are many ways to present the cake.
23. One way is dropping gems chocolate on the pieces. Another way is serving them with scoops of ice creams and some pieces of fruits to make it a perfect dessert.
24. Or put few cherries on the top for that gorgeous bakery made look.

Tips and Precautions:
  • The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the pressure cooker and temperature of the burner.
  • If you are using thick bottom cooker, cook only on high flame.
  • If you are not using butter paper, then you can simply grease the bottom of the pan with butter before pouring the batter on it.
  • There is one more way to cook in the pressure cooker which is to cook by adding about ½ kg of salt at the under the cake pan. Or else, sprinkle some salt at the bottom and then place a perforated plate like idli plate and then place the cake pan over it.
  • There are variations in ingredients also. Some people use curd and some use lemon juice while others use neither. In this recipe, I have used curd since it also adds to the softness of the batter.
  • Another important thing is the consistency of the batter. Add milk carefully and mix gradually to avoid lumps. Be careful with the amount of milk you add.
  • Move the whisk in only one direction for long time to avoid lumps.
Not everyone is fond of cakes with loads of cream and fancy icing on it. Some people like simple cakes free from artificial decorations. You can cut it in triangle shapes or squares with toppings of gems or cherry slices. This recipe is perfect for a small birthday party or even for a picnic. You can refrigerate it for many days and the taste will only get better.
