Homemade Pizza Base: How to Make Pizza Dough without Yeast?

Today I am coming with a simple but very tasty delicious recipe – Pizza Dough without Yeast. We know that pizza is an Italian dish which consists of a base of dough baked with the toppings like tomato sauce, melted cheese and either meet or vegetables. Generally we use yeast while preparing pizza as it helps to raise the dough and makes pizza thicker. But, it is also possible to make pizza without yeast. Instead of yeast, here we use baking soda and lemon juice.

So, before going to know about pizza base recipe without yeast, let me once list out the required ingredients. 

Required Ingredients

  • Flour – 2 cups
  • Baking Powder – 2 tsp
  • Lemon Juice – 2 tsp
  • Salt – as per the requirement (Generally, 1 tsp is enough)
  • Water – 2/3 cup
  • Vegetable Oil – ¼ cup
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Tomato Sauce – 2 cups
  • Shredded Cheese – ½ cup

Other Requirements:

  • Glass Mixing Bowl
  • A flat Non-Stick Surface (Cutting Board)
  • Pizza Baking Pan of size 2” X 18”

How to Make Pizza Dough without Yeast At Your Home?

  • First of all, heat the oven to 425 F.
  • Combine 2 cups of flour, 2 tsp of lemon juice, 2 tsp of baking powder, 2/3rd cup of water, 1 tsp of salt and ¼ cup of vegetable in a glass mixing bowl.
  • Stir all the ingredients together and make it a ball. You may add some more water if the dough becomes too stiff.
  • Now pour out the dough onto a flat non-sticking surface (cutting board) and knead the dough with clean hands for few minutes. Please remember that the dough should be soft, but not sticky. You may sprinkle a little flour on the dough if it is too sticky.
  • Take a Pizza backing pan and spread the dough onto it. Uniformly flatten the dough with clean hands.
  • Brush 2 tbsp of olive oil onto the surface of dough.
  • Add 2 cups of tomato sauce onto the dough and spread it.
  • Add ½ cup of shredded cheese on top of the tomato sauce.
  • You may add some other toppings also that you like. But you should always add them at the center of the dough and then spread them all over the dough.
  • Bake it for 45 minutes or until cheese starts to bubble.
Now the hot and tasty PIZZA DOUGH is ready without adding yeast.

Important Points to be Remembered: 

You may refrigerate the dough for a night before baking to make softer crust.
  • We need not add cheese to get tasty pizza.
  • Pizza dough raises more with yeast as compared to the yeast substitutions that are taken in this recipe i.e. baking powder and lemon juice.
  • We cannot expect same thickness in pizza every time.
  • We can replace the baking powder with baking soda. But in this case, we have to use half of the salt as per the requirement.
